Learn About Training

What is EPA Section 608?

EPA Section 608 of the Clean Air Act requires that all persons who maintain, service, or dispose of air conditioning and refrigeration equipment must be certified. This certification ensures that technicians follow proper procedures for handling refrigerants and preventing ozone depletion.

Whether you're working with residential systems, commercial refrigeration, or industrial HVAC equipment, EPA Section 608 certification is a legal requirement in the United States.

Certification Types

Type I

For servicing small appliances with less than 5 pounds of refrigerant (window AC units, etc.)

Type II

For servicing high-pressure appliances (most residential and commercial AC systems)

Type III

For servicing low-pressure appliances (commercial refrigeration, chillers)

Universal Certification: Covers all three types and allows you to service any refrigeration or air conditioning equipment
