EPA Guidelines

Requirements to Purchase Refrigerant

When purchasing refrigerants, it’s crucial to understand the regulations set by the EPA under Section 608 of the Clean Air Act. Only EPA-certified technicians (under Section 608 or 609 programs) are generally permitted to buy ozone-depleting substances (ODS) and their substitutes used as refrigerants. These technicians can only purchase refrigerants consistent with their specific certification.

As a refrigerant wholesaler, Texvac Refrigerants Inc. adheres strictly to these regulations. We can only sell refrigerants to individuals who are EPA-certified under Section 608 or 609, and we require a copy of their license or the license of the installing technician.

If you are buying refrigerant for resale to another EPA-certified individual, you must declare this intent. This declaration ensures both our compliance with EPA regulations and your legal purchase. During checkout, you’ll have the option to provide a copy of your EPA certification or check a box indicating that you are reselling the refrigerant to someone who is EPA certified.

Texvac Refrigerants Inc. ensures that your purchases are legal and that all refrigerants are brand new, 100% virgin, and meet or exceeds ARI-700 standards. This commitment to compliance and quality provides confidence in your purchase.

Wholesaler Responsibilities

The EPA mandates that wholesalers selling refrigerants must:

  • Retain invoices that detail the purchaser’s name, sale date, and the quantity of refrigerant bought.
  • Ensure that their customers fit into one of the allowed purchaser categories under the sales restriction. This means wholesalers are legally responsible for verifying that those buying refrigerant for resale are indeed selling it to EPA-certified individuals.

By following these procedures, we ensure that both Texvac Refrigerants Inc. and our customers are compliant with all federal regulations regarding refrigerant sales.
